No Mandate

Thanks numbers.   You remind me of things.   Things that are true for sure and things that I hope are true.

73,648,823   That's a big number.   That's the number of voters who said no to the popular vote loser.

10,699,187.   That's over 10 million people more people who said, nope, not that guy then those who pushed the other button.

That's helpful for me to know.   So I will stand against the horrible things.   And protect the little bit of good I can put into the world.

And I hope, I really do hope that I'm not the only one.

I also found this podcast interesting.   It popped up on my playlist when I really needed to hear someone share this message well.      TED Radio Hour

To be clear, I do not hate anyone for choosing differently than me.   There was a lot of fake news out there and we should have stood up better for the truth.  I do believe that most people are trying to do the best they can.

Kindness

Throw kindness around like confetti in your life. It is there, waiting to be thrown. Kindness is always there.

Warning. I'm Changing the Focus.

And while that might mean I post blurry pictures more or just pictures more often, I will also be posting about things I find to be important.   Or interesting.

Like this.

And then we forgot that they weren't us.

Silence

It's been a week. There has been a lot of noise. So much that I personally have had to shut it down. Not allow it in. I'm trying small doses. Deep breaths before I try again. And do you know what is the most deafening?

The silence.

The silence of people who supported that candidate. Who won on a platform of racism and glossed over sexual assault. And so many other terrible things.

These people that I love, that don't acknowledge the terrible hurt that we are going through in humanity right now. That don't speak up to say violence against women is not acceptable even though he won. That don't say judging a man on his religion goes against everything this country was built on.

Of course, I cling to hope. Every day, I hope that someone will stand up right now and say, I am with you, if not on the whole picture, than this one piece.

But I can't hear it. So I retreat. For now. For my own protection. For this week, to see if any of them will do the right thing.

And then I stand back up. And I argue. And I try to make even my small piece a better world and I do not accept that these horrible things cannot be changed.

I do not accept the hatred.

I do not accept the silence.
